"Let’s start with the names: Tas-Soru is Maltese for ‘nun’. The Gozo farmhouse that sits next door is called Tal-Patri (‘the priest’) which is rather lovely isn’t it?
You’ll find lots more loveliness inside. Heavy sandstone block walls sweeping arches and wrought iron balustrades create a homely feel. It’s contemporary but very much built on (and with) traditional materials. Stepping inside for the first time it somehow reminded me of a kirk. Outside the walled terrace and private pool let you enjoy the heat of a Gozo summer in peaceful seclusion.
Ghammar is a quiet hamlet between Zebbug and Ghasri. It’s a great base for walking and nowhere on the island is more than a short drive away by car". Jules

Ghammer Ghasri
Ghammar (pronounced “ammer”) is a small rural hamlet on the north-west side of Gozo.
It consists of a cluster of Gozo farmhouses lying between Zebbug and Ghasri. In Ghasri visit the Gurden Lighthouse on Gurden Hill. This was the first lighthouse built on Gozo in 1853.
It rises 180 metres above sea level and the top of the hill gives you fabulous panoramic views of the island.
It’s a good walk for hikers who enjoy the steep challenge.
From Ghammar it is a lovely walk to picturesque Wied L Ghasri valley an ideal spot for country walks and cycling particularly in spring and winter.
The valley leads to the sea and a secluded inlet nestled between high cliffs.
The inlet is popular for swimming snorkelling and diving.
Tas Soru is a short drive from a number of beaches with Dwerja Bay and the stunning Azure Window close by. The popular and lively beach at Marsalforn Bay is a short drive to the north. The largest sandy beach on Gozo Ramla Bay is a little further east.
